e-i-e-i-omg…

May 25, 2009

I shouldn’t say I busted out the tape measure this morning, but I did, and now for a little bra-related TMI…

Been noticing my cups overflowing, and fully aware that I need new bras. But I also know that being only halfway through my fourth month, I’m probably going to need new bras about 10 times over for every size change I go through. But for some reason, I wasn’t expecting this much of a change. With Kieran, I never had boobs at all until I was about in my fifth month, when I surprised myself by becoming a 36C.

But by the time I was nursing, I was a 38EE. That only lasted as long as I was nursing, though.

So cue to this morning. I’ve been somewhere between a 36B and a 38C during most of my adult life. But realizing that none were fitting right, and the athletic bras I’d been counting on were actually uncomfortable, especially since they tended to redirect car seat belts around my beck, I measured everything again and calculated my new bra size to be 38E.

Um, if I’m almost to the size I was when I was nursing Kieran, and that seemed freakishly big at the time, what are they going to look like when Bunky shows up??!

I’ll speak on Bunky’s behalf to say they’ll look like “breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”

when i got knocked up with zane i was a 36c.
    i went to a 38 g.
then rei hit. i went to a 42h. holy shit.
now, i am back to about what i weighed when i got knocked up the first time, about the same size, except for all the massive skin sags on my tummy, and i wear a 38f. thank whoever that i am proportional now! 44, 37 44! don’t fret it, it just means that you are gearing up for massive milk making. and that means less formula spending, if that is the way you are going to go.
and- if it helps, i had a lactation consultant friend go over my old pump. she is going to send it in for repairs under her program, and if it needs more repairs than it is worth, they are going to replace it. so- you will have a working hospital quality pump, if you choose to go the boob juice route, if you need it. just lemme know. i know they cost a fortune, i got mine free, i want to pass it on.(i knew i was holding on to it for a reason)

OMG that would be awesome, because yes, I want to breastfeed for at least the first year if I can! And work has a room especially set aside so that breastfeeding mothers can do what they need to do.
And I may need to hit you up for bra shopping tips, because the ones I just bought were 38Ds and will hold me over for a little while but I know I’m going to explode when my milk comes in and doubtless need another transitional size when I get into 3rd trimester. I don’t even know where to look, but worse, it seems like the larger you get, the more likely you are to get shoved over to “find it on the internet.” How the hell can I try it on first, then?

um, i know that i pay a ton for my bras. about $80 each, BUT i can get them on major clearance at nordstroms. i wear fantasie bras exclusively, and they are english, and imported, and of course that raises the price. i buy one a month, and usually find one or two on the clearance rack for a bit off, and that helps. they go up to a h cup, 42 band, and actually are pretty. and if you have a nordie’s near you, or whatever, you can try them on.
nursing bras- i did the motherwear, but i was in the uk for 3 months with zane when he was 10 months old, and after i had him, went to my parents’ house and there was a specialty bra shop that had great nursing bras, so i got kitted out there. i think between that, the uk trip and target, of all places, i was set for both kids because my band size and cup size stayed pretty constant.
i will get the pump to her this week, then. you might need to get new tubing, or i will see if i can do that through her. it’s been sitting in the attic since i stopped pumping from weaning rei- but it is still the same kind the company makes now, it is just the really portable one. i still have all the pieces, as well as unopened silicon pacifiers- good til 2012, and some silicon nipples, good til same. neither kid used them, and with my latex allergy, we had to get those, and those suckers last for freaking ever.

Oh, I might have some maternity clothes for you too, as well as the crib when you come up. I was about the same size as you pre-pregnancy, so my stuff might fit you. I may even have a maternity bra in there, I’m not sure. And you know how big I STILL am! 😉
